We are getting ready to take down our tree.
As the branches are cleared and the lights are (kinda) wound back into their box, it's one last time to reflect on the memories our tree holds...souvenirs from trips, gifts from special friends, and even a few sharks from a Sharknado video Christmas card we did one year.
This year, as we put each ornament away, we'll try to do something simple: jot down where it came from. Just a line or two... a city, a trip, a person, a year. No pressure to write the whole story now, just enough to plant the seed.[PHOTOS]
Give it a try and make it your New Year's resolution to choose just one ornament a month and write its story. And next December, when you open those boxes again, something magical will happen. You won't just decorate a tree. You’ll open a book, one filled with chapters about the people, places, and moments your ornaments honor.
Grab a cup of cocoa, read the stories with your favorite people, and experience the true joy of the holiday season...shared connections, memories, and hopefully a few laughs. Every ornament holds a story that's worth keeping, and it's the stories that turn these keepsakes into heirlooms.
Even if the keepsake is a plastic shark.[PHOTOS2]
